Jefferson County Coroner’s Office seeks next of kin for deceased inmate

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating the family of Jerry Paschal, a 65-year-old man who passed away at the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer. Paschal was found unresponsive at the jail on April 29 and was subsequently taken to UAB Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he passed away at the hospital on the morning of May 15. The exact cause of Paschal’s death is currently unknown, but a postmortem examination revealed no signs of foul play.
