Inquest rules dancer was killed in 'sex game gone wrong' before boyfriend took own life, who was deemed 'controlling'

Yorkshire woman Georgia May Brooke, a professional dancer, tragically died after being strangled during a sexual encounter. Her boyfriend, Luke Cannon, who was described as 'manic and hyperactive', later took his own life. The incident took place in Bradford, West Yorkshire, where Georgia passed away at Bradford Royal Infirmary in early February 2022. A coroner ruled that Ms. Brooke was "unlawfully killed" due to manual strangulation, GHB, and cocaine use. During the inquest, Georgia's mother, Samantha Beaumont, emotionally recounted Georgia's life as a talented and dedicated dancer. Georgia excelled in dance exams, earned a scholarship to a prestigious performing arts school in London, and had been working as a dancer in Crete. She was looking forward to returning to Greece. Samantha described how Georgia's personality changed after meeting Luke, becoming submissive as he displayed controlling behavior. Luke confessed to paramedics that he and Georgia had been consuming alcohol and a 'sex drug' known as 'G' - GHB. A doctor at Bradford Royal Infirmary noted that Georgia appeared to have been dead longer than Luke indicated. Purple 'ligature marks' were found around her neck. A nurse disclosed that Luke mentioned using GHB for a 'euphoric sensation' during their intimate moments. Luke was described as agitated, similar to someone under the influence of cocaine. A friend revealed that Georgia and Luke's relationship was filled with "sex and drugs", and they would often "choke each other". Luke was portrayed as manipulative, a 'loudmouth and ladies' man. Some knew Luke as a property developer, while others alleged he was involved in drug dealing. His landlord mentioned Luke had previously worked as a personal trainer and owned a gym. Following Georgia's tragic death, Samantha was informed that her daughter had been 'strangled during sex', causing her demise. Luke's erratic behavior raised suspicion, as he admitted to drug use during their intimate encounter. Later, he was found hanged near the hospital.
