Three individuals have been convicted in Suffolk armed robberies.
Harry Lee Lewis IV of Suffolk and Dennis Lee Adamson Jr. of Portsmouth have been convicted in connection with armed robberies in Suffolk and attempting to dispose of evidence. The Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that from November 2020 through February 2022, Lewis and Adamson planned and carried out armed robberies of convenience stores. Lewis would shoot a semiautomatic gun into the ceiling of the store upon entering, causing fear among employees and customers. The duo robbed at least five stores together, with one incident at the EZ Food Mart & Deli in Suffolk resulting in Adamson firing shots that narrowly missed a store employee before fleeing with stolen cash.
In addition to their joint robberies, Lewis and Adamson also committed separate armed robberies. Lewis robbed a 7-Eleven store on February 1, 2022, while Adamson targeted a Dollar General store in Portsmouth on October 14, 2022, a month after Lewis was arrested. While in detention before trial, Lewis instructed Ieisha Marie Adamson of Portsmouth to remove items from his vehicle, including a box of ammunition hidden in a secret compartment, which she did. These actions led to additional charges against all three individuals involved.
Lewis was convicted of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, multiple counts of interference with commerce by robbery, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He faces a mandatory minimum of 24 years in prison, with a maximum sentence of life in prison upon sentencing. Adamson, on the other hand, was found guilty of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, multiple counts of interference with commerce by robbery, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, facing a mandatory minimum of 17 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison. Ieisha Marie Adamson was convicted of accessory after the fact and misprision of a felony, potentially facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
All three individuals are scheduled to be sentenced on September 19. The severity of their crimes, including armed robberies, possession of firearms, and attempting to dispose of evidence, highlights the dangerous and criminal behavior exhibited by Lewis, Adamson, and Adamson Jr. The DOJ's efforts to prosecute and bring justice to those involved in these criminal activities demonstrate the commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the community from individuals who engage in violent and unlawful behavior. Through the legal process and sentencing to be determined, the consequences of their actions will be upheld, holding them accountable for the harm and fear they caused to innocent victims and the community as a whole.
