Man from Orange County faces charges of kidnapping and assault

In Ulster County, New York, the Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Stephen Thompson, a New Windsor man, in connection to a domestic violence investigation. Thompson, 34, is facing numerous charges after an incident of alleged physical abuse, property destruction, and holding a woman against her will. The incident was reported to police in March of 2023, leading to Thompson’s indictment by an Ulster County Grand Jury in November of the same year. Following the indictment, it was learned that Thompson had fled New York, only to return to the state on April 25, leading to his arrest in Newburgh. Read the full article here

Good Samaritan in south Edmonton attacked while attempting to intervene in hit-and-run incident

On a Friday morning in south Edmonton, the police were called to a strange series of events involving a collision and an assault. Three suspects were involved, one of whom had stab wounds. The incident began after a collision near Scona Road and 94th Avenue between a black Ford Fusion sedan and a black Hyundai Sonata. The driver of the Ford attempted to flee the scene but was blocked by a woman driving a silver Dodge RAM pickup truck. The two women in the suspect vehicle then assaulted the woman in the pickup truck, leading to a self-defense action where the woman stabbed one of the attackers. The suspects, including a man, then fled the scene, leaving behind injured individuals. The driver of the Hyundai was unharmed in the incident, while the woman in the pickup truck sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Innocent man acquitted of killing former Fettes College teacher Peter Coshan

A 65-year-old man was recently acquitted of murdering a retired teacher from Fettes College, but he was found guilty of perverting the course of justice by disposing of the body and providing misleading information to the authorities. The accused, Paul Black, along with his flatmate, Paul McNaughton, allegedly hatched a plan to steal a substantial amount of money from the victim, Peter Coshan, through a catfishing scheme. Despite being implicated in the crime, Black was absolved of wrongdoing in the teacher's death, while the jury found him guilty of obstructing justice. Peter Coshan, a former biology instructor, met a tragic end at Black's residence in Leith after being lured there by McNaughton using a fake profile created on the dating platform Gaydar.
