In Hanford, California, a 37-year-old woman was recently arrested after her mother was discovered dead, locked in a closet and wrapped in plastic bags. The tragic incident unfolded when a concerned neighbor contacted the Hanford Police Department on May 18 at 2:09 p.m. The neighbor had not seen the elderly woman for a couple of weeks, prompting the welfare check. Christopher Agbaje, a Nigerian citizen, was recently found guilty by a federal jury for his involvement in a sophisticated fraud scheme. The verdict was reached after a four-day trial in Bismarck, with Agbaje being convicted of money laundering and aiding wire and mail fraud. The crimes in question occurred in November and December 2020, when Agbaje posed as a business owner embroiled in a dispute with a Bismarck law firm. He went as far as creating a fake agreement with the firm, leading to a series of fraudulent transactions that ultimately resulted in financial losses for the law firm. During the course of the scheme, the Bismarck law firm received a fraudulent check amounting to $198,850.00, which was deposited into the firm's bank account at Agbaje's behest.
