Police in Birmingham are investigating a homicide in South Woodlawn.

The Birmingham Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that occurred in the South Woodlawn neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon. According to Public information officer Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, a Shot Spotter alert was activated in the 100 block of 59th Street North just after 3 p.m. Upon receiving the alert, BPD officers were notified that a person had been shot at the scene. Tragically, an adult male in a wheelchair was discovered with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sgt.
